Drinking water throughout the day is always encouraged, as it not only regulates the functioning of our body but also cleanses the body from various toxins regularly. But why to go for plain tasteless water when you can make it super delicious and much more nourishing in just few simple steps? I guess this mere thought has made the DETOX waters a new internet sensation and caught attention of netizens. But just in case you haven’t heard about it yet or you are confused about which detox water will work best for you or how to prepare one for yourself, read on.
In current times when we live in an environment which is filled with pollutants, preservatives, heavy metals and harmful chemicals; our body is continuously exposed to various toxins. We inhale, ingest and get in contact with these toxins which then get stored in our tissues and cells. This toxic overload is extremely hazardous and may serve as an invite to various unwanted health conditions like headaches, nausea, fatigue, digestive disorders, mood swings, belly fat, etc. In this scenario the detox waters come as easy ways to flush out the harmful toxins from the body. Simultaneously, they also cleanse the kidneys and liver, reduce inflammation, promote healthy skin and restore the energy levels.
Detox waters can be prepared by infusing cold water with various fruits, vegetables and herbs. There is actually no recipe to be followed. Just take a big jar of water, pop in the ingredients of your choice, refrigerate it for 3-4 hours (preferably overnight) and Voila!!! You are done. You may experiment with a variety of ingredients in different quantities to infuse the water, depending upon your taste and needs.
Here I am sharing a few of my preferences with you:-
Lemon, Cucumber & Mint Detox:
This is the best drink to kick start your mornings. Even Khloe Kardashian recommended this one on her Instagram page. Cut thin slices of medium sized cucumber, 2-3 lemons and add them to a jar of water. Add 10-12 mint leaves and leave it overnight. Cucumbers make it extremely hydrating and nourishing. Lemons are a rich source of citric acid which helps in cleaning the digestive system and mint makes the drink fresh and stimulating. This refreshing and delicious drink gives you the much required energy boost to start your day. You may optionally replace mint with thinly sliced ginger too.
Oranges/kiwis, Blueberries & Mint Detox:
This is another delicious and healthy morning drink that is power packed with nutrients. Drop some tiny berries, thin slices of lemon and mint in cold water and set it aside to infuse. Besides providing a healthy dose of vitamin C and other antioxidants, this detox drink also promotes weight loss in a tastier way. Also if you replace oranges with kiwis, this drink can help you to get rid of bloating issues and thus becomes a perfect drink for dinner time or afterwards.
Watermelon, cucumber, mint & aloe Detox
Watermelon is naturally endowed with essential vitamins and nutrients and many healthy plant compounds like lycopene, beta-carotene. Scoop out some round watermelon balls and put them in a jar full of water along with some sliced cucumber. Add some fresh mint leaves too and keep it in the fridge. The combination of watermelon and cucumber makes it a perfect summer delight as it is very hydrating. It can also be an ideal workout partner for you as it helps in restoring the nutrients which we lose through sweating.
Cucumber and lime
This can be considered as the simplest among all the detox waters. Take some slices of cucumber and lime and drop them into a jar of water; put them into your fridge and take them out whenever you are too busy to have lunch. This beverage is not only refreshing but fulfilling as well.
Apple, oranges & strawberry
This is a delectable detox water which helps to fight the sugar cravings too. Wow! Doesn’t it sound perfect? A few slices of green apple, a few more of oranges and some diced strawberries are all you need. Put these ingredients into the jar of water and just let them chill. You can have them as a midday snack or as a healthy option to satisfy your sweet tooth. It is loved by kids too.
You may refill all these jars with water again and again to extract all the flavours and goodness of the various fruits vegetables and herbs used in it. Also if you are travelling, these drinks keep you hydrated and provide you healthy fruit snack on the go.
And yes it restricts your calorie intake and will detach you from all the junk food without compromising with your taste buds.
No wonder, you would get to see a lot of positive changes in your body and health like weight loss, beautiful hair and skin, better metabolism, good mental health, high energy levels and many more. So what is stopping you now from cleaning your body from inside?
