We all have suffered from a sore throat at least once in our lives. A sore throat is actually irritating and painful. You feel dry, irritating and itching right at the middle of your throat. Forget about swallowing food it makes, swallowing your own saliva a major challenge.

Well, if you are suffering from cold than obviously, the smell factor is irrelevant for you. In addition, you do not need to drink a glass full of this. Mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar with warm water and mix well. You can even add a tablespoon of honey to it which can further provide relief for your throat as well as your taste buds. Drink this while it is hot enough to get the best results.
Yes!! You read it right ‘Garlic’. Apart from improving immunity and problems relating to the digestive system, it is even used as a home remedy for a sore throat.
Apart from providing a bundle of other usages garlic can improve your sore throat can show results in a day itself. The compound that is used for this is allicin, it is released when raw garlic is cut or crushed. It fights any kind of infections in your throat due to its antibacterial property.
Using it is very simple to peel 2garlic bulbs and stuffs them in each cheek. Keep on sucking the juice that is extracted from it. Try this for the remedy as soon as you feel tingling or slight pain in your throat.
The very intense flavor of ginger helps relieve a sore throat instantly. Since a sore throat is almost always packed with a lot of mucus around which makes you feel congested and uneasy. The intense aroma or spice that is packed in ginger helps release that mucus which eases your throat and respiratory system. It even relieves your blocked nose and chases away that pain and irritation.
On a happy note, you do not have to endure its bad taste. You can simply add crushed ginger to your tea and enjoy it. Or you can grind it extract at least 1 teaspoon of juice add honey to this (say your little prayer) and drink it. This is a sure shot remedy for that extra sore throat.
- Lemon and honey tea
If you are not a big fan of all the above mentioned intense flavors and extreme spicy taste try this simple tea. Lemon contains a fair amount of vitamin c which fights the cold. Besides, it boosts the immune system and helps to keep you warm during winters. Plus its tangy taste won’t create a problem.
You can make this tea by adding 1 teaspoon of lemon juice with honey to the boiled tea of your choice. Drink it while it is still hot. You can drink this 3 to 4 times a day to see best results.
Clove actually helps when you suffer from the pain in your throat. These cloves are amazingly packed with a substance called Eugenol which is a natural painkiller. Even dentist swear by this for providing relief for toothaches. It is released when you chew it.
No further preparations required simply pop a clove inside your mouth soften it and chew it softly with a firm tooth, slowly releasing its juice.
- Baking soda gargle
You may be surprised to know that baking soda can be put to many uses expect to make amazing cakes. The antibacterial properties that come along baking soda help relief the swollen tissues of your throat. It is a simple and effective solution for a sore throat.
Add ½ teaspoon of baking soda and ½ teaspoon of salt to 1 cup of warm water (that you can drink). You can pour this in your mouth let it rest for few seconds in your throat and then gargle. Do this as many times you like but be sure not to dry up your throat tissue because of excessive gargle (with salt).
- Drink lots of fluids
Now, this does not mean that you grab a chilled bottle of your favorite juice and start off with it. No, a big no.
You can drink the liquids that are at room temperature, which includes water, citrus juices like orange, pineapple, tea (whatever you like) and more water.
Drinking lots of fluids help flush out the toxins and antibacterial elements out of your body. You can even combine it with lots of rest which will help your body recover. Restrain yourself from alcoholic drinks as they can provide temporary relief with no actual benefit.
You can use any if the above-mentioned remedy any time you feel tingling and irritation at your throat. These home remedies are beneficial in every case. Instead of spending your big bucks in buying medicines that provide temporary relief with major side effects you can simply look out at your kitchen and cure your ailment.
These are by far the best known home remedies that I have read and my mother has taught me & is applying on me since my adolescence. All of these are quiet effective and can save your hard earned money also.
