Are you always thinking of how people are tall? Or how that particular person is able to carry that dress very well? Or you wish, just for once you can skip the heels to work? Do you wish to increase height?
These are usually the question in average height people when they are around tall being. Though being short doesn’t undermine any capabilities, it’s usually seen that tall people get the most attention. Well, I don’t think there is a need to think that way, I am sure you look beautiful/handsome the way you are!
But in case you are looking to increase your height, we do have various natural ways to do it. In fact, only exercises cannot determine a good height, you need the proper diet to substitute the difference.
Exercises For Better Results
It is said a person can increase his/her height only to a certain age, but people can increase height by a few inches even after 18 years of age. This can be possible by healthy eating and exercise.
Some Of The Exercises That Can Help Increase Height Are:-
The Super Stretch
Similar to bending backward and touching toes, Super stretch is stretching your arms overhead and bending slightly backward and touching your toes. This stretch gives a good stretch to the spinal cord.
This exercise will give a good stretch to spine and hip bone, making them stronger. To do this exercise lie on the floor with your shoulder and arms placed on the floor, your knees bent and feet on the floor. Try lifting your core body i.e your torso and hip by pushing feet towards the ground. Remain in the position for 30 sec and rest and repeat.
This seems to be simple at first but takes a good strength to complete a set. Grab a monkey bar, hang on it keep your upper body relaxed. This will give your lower spine a stretch, which is helpful in increasing height.
Try Yoga for Better Results
This is the simplest asanas, it simply means happy pose. The main aim of the asana is to make body stress free adding a relief to the spine.
The triangle pose. This asana can be called a lower body relief mechanism. It helps strengthen legs, calves, thighs & knees while working on spine chest and shoulder. It helps reduce strengthen spinal cord and is also responsible for the better digestive system.
Adho Mukha Svanasana
This asana strengthens the whole body and muscles around the spinal cord. It is the simplest asana and resembles a dog stretching its body. This is can be practiced by anyone.
Chakra means circle and while you so this asana you have to curve your body into a circle. This asana is great for back and stomach, as this two areas are the main focus and strength of this asana. Though it can be difficult for someone who started yoga recently but this asana benefit a lot for increasing height.
While we have given you poses to bend your body in every shape and feel the benefits of the exercise, we don’t want to lag behind in giving out the food responsible for increasing height.

A balanced is what it takes a human body to function properly. But there are certain types of foods that help an extra mile to increase height and they are discussed as follows.
The super food, which doesn’t need an introduction as it gives energy to the body, the potassium present in banana help body to restore bone weakness. Manganese present in banana aid bone health and metabolism and that is the reason it’s given to an infant during initial months. It may be not so special for people who are looking to reduce weight but is actually a lot beneficial for those looking to increase height.
Eggs are an easily available product. They are rich in Vitamin D, calcium, & Vitamin B2 which are responsible for growing healthy bones. Though it’s not a great option for vegetarians but you might want to consider it.
Dry Fruits & seeds
Dry fruits like almond, walnut, pines are not only helpful for brains health but bone health as well. Seed like pumpkin seeds or flax seed responsible for tissue regeneration. The minerals in dry fruits and seeds give out growth hormones in human body.
Green vegetables are the source of the dietary fiber, vitamins & carbohydrates. Vegetables like spinach (you probably would want to think of Popeye for that muscles strength) okra, sprouts, peas & broccoli help muscle growth adding to height.
Every time you have given an odd look to a glass of milk, you might want to go back to that moment and thank your mother for inculcating that habit in you. Dairy products are a good source of calcium, protein, Vitamin A,B,D & E. Calcium is necessary for healthy growth of bones. It is suggested to drink at least 2 glasses of milk every day or substitute it with paneer or yogurt.

Ashwagandha – Ashwagandha is also known as Indian Ginseng. The wide range of minerals present, help increase bone density hence aiding growth. Add 2 teaspoon of Ashwagandha mix it in a cup of cow milk with sugar and have it every night before hitting to bed.
Obstacles To Overcome
- Avoid consuming alcohol as it affects the body functioning and growth.
- Avoid smoking as it increases the presence of carbon monoxide in your bloodstream, affecting the growth.
- Try and avoid mattress that does not ensure back support.
- You should also avoid taking unnecessary supplements as contrary to helping in increasing height they affect adversely.
- Try maintaining an ideal weight as obesity can have an adverse effect on your health.
- Avoid fast food.
Other Things To Keep in Mind
Get proper sleep, as adequate sleep is responsible for the body to grow and regenerate tissues. During sleep, our body releases HGH (Human growth hormones) responsible for increasing height.
Vitamin D, Sunlight is the best cure for anything. Sunlight is the easiest way to absorb vitamin D which is great for bone health. Vitamin D is also present in milk, cheese, egg and fish.
Correct Posture, you must have been corrected by your parents on sitting straight on a chair, avoiding puffed pillows, keeping your shoulder straight. This habits should be continued to keep your spine in good shape.
All these habits, exercises, diet plans can definitely help you gain good height. The height of a person stops to grow after the certain age which varies between 20 to 25 years for most. You should try these natural home practices before that to see a better effect.
