Jessamyn Stanley is a body positivity advocate, writer, yoga teacher and Instagram sensation. An unconventional face in the fitness world, Jessamyn has managed to shatter all norms and stereotypes about the ideal body size for practising yoga and propagates yoga for all. Jessamyn is also the recipient of the “Shorty Award for Best in Healthy Living” and is the spokesperson for U by Kotex FITNESS.
Born on June 27, 1987 in Durham, North Carolina, USA, Jessamyn is a plus-sized, African-American yoga instructor who propagates body positivity. She first became famous online, due to her practice of digitally documenting her yoga and the awe-inspiring message she sends out. Today, she is a force to be reckoned with in online yoga community, with over 340,000 followers on Instagram. She also teaches yoga internationally, spreading the love! Unlike most people, Jessamyn advocates focusing on the “How do I feel” aspect of yoga over the, “How do I look“. She challenges the traditional stereotypes around rigid body types for practicing yoga and has facilitated thousands of “fat” and “plus-sized” women to undertake yoga for self-care and fitness.
Jessamyn Stanley Early Life:
Initially, Jessamyn began studying yoga at Asheville Yoga Centre through their 230-hour Teacher Training Program.
She began by studying with Kimberley Puryear.
Eventually, she began documenting her yoga practice at home, which then propelled her into the world of celebrities in the yoga community. She had to deal with a lot of body shaming, but through her yoga, and a positive mindset, she continues to move forward and work extensively on propagating body positivity.
Growing up, Jessamyn had a hard time accepting her body and had severe body image issues. It was extremely toxic and challenging for her to accept and love herself and her body, for a long time period.
It was only in college when she was going through a particularly rough patch of depression; she tried yoga at the recommendation of a friend.
This was what altered the course of her life completely, helping her not only love herself but also spread the positivity to thousands of other women.

Jessamyn loves doing yoga and despite her extremely hectic schedule, she manages to fit in at least one or sometimes even two sessions of yoga per day!
For starters, Jessamyn has an online course on codyapp.com, where there are four 40-50 minute sessions focusing on teaching a specific type of Vinyasa pose, with the fifth class weaving in all the components previously taught into a 70-minute session, in a beautiful flow. This is specifically designed for beginners, to help them understand and work on yoga better.
Her famous, 8-minute yoga aimed at improving self-love, consists of doing some of the classic yoga poses such as Warrior I, Warrior II and the Triangle among others. Through this, she hopes to get her followers to get to know their own body and internal strength while also boosting their self-confidence.
Some of her favorite poses to nurture self-confidence, strength and peace are the Dancer pose, the Wheel pose, the Tree pose and the Monkey pose among others.

Jessamyn Stanley Diet Plan:
Jessamyn believes in eating right and is against starving as a means of attaining fitness. However, she does not have any rigid diet or nutrition plans. Rather she tends to eat healthy and clean. Her usual food habits are as follows:
As soon as she wakes up, Jessamyn tends to drink up around 32 ounces of water.
She also has around 8-10 ounces of water with raw honey and Apple Cider Vinegar to cleanse the system.
Post her yoga session, Jessamyn settles down to breakfast, and since she tends to skip lunch most days, she prefers her breakfast to be heavy and enriching.
She then has veggie scrambles, with eggs and tons of fresh vegetables. She also has fresh fruit to go with her breakfast scrambles! Apart from that, she also has a protein smoothie accompanying her meal, with ingredients depending on her taste.
For her mid-morning snack, Jessamyn tends to have fruit along with her favorite snack of the week. Also, she tends to drink water throughout to remain hydrated and feel full.
For her mid-afternoon snack, she likes to have coffee along with dried fruit, as it is a light and healthy combination!
For dinner, Jessamyn throws together a simple meal, however, since she loves pasta that is what she tends to have- with tons of veggies of course!
