For some people dancing is a passion, for some dancing is fun, and for some it is stress – buster! Surprised?? But, yes! This is true, when you embrace yourself in the magical world of dance, nothing will bother you. Dancing is a conversation between body and soul. It can soothingly add tranquility to your life. Dance gifts us a complete package of emotional, mental and physical fitness. I think there can be no form of exercise as exciting as dance. You can get bored of treadmills, of jogging but dancing will always be a delight.
Whether it be classical dancing, folk dancing, dancing the waltz, cha-cha, or rhumba or even just shaking your body with music – dancing can be a great form of exercise for anyone. Dancing is a form of sport that both men and women can practice. As some dance steps require much bending and stretching, it can help you lose weight, strengthen and tone your body, increase stamina and flexibility, improve balance and posture and none the less makes you look handsome (boy) or beautiful (girl). Dancing on stage will definitely increase your self-confidence and give you a more positive outlook.
Research shows that a 120-pound adult can actually burn approximately 110 calories doing 20-30 minutes of social dancing. And that dance burns anywhere from 5 to 10 calories per minute depending on speed and intensity. It is experimentally verified that the muscle exertion and breathing rates of dancers performing in one dance competition is equivalent to those of swimmers, cyclists and you would be shocked to know that it is even equivalent to an Olympic-level 800-meter runner.
“Dancing and running shake up the chemistry of happiness” – Mason Cooley
Also, while dancing certain types of chemicals are generated that help in developing nerve cells and increase our memory power. It increases our blood-circulation. Specific dances also have certain benefits for your body and add fitness and flexibility to your muscles. For example, belly dancing helps prevent lower back problems. Similarly the salsa dancing helps lower blood pressure and cholesterol which is why it is good for people having heart problems. The ball-room dancing is a potent means of building endurance to your muscles, so rather than running on treadmill for hours you can go for these dances and build endurance and strength. All forms of dance weather kathak, hip-hop, belly dance, or random dance on the beats of dholak are known to help you lower your risk of heart disease, will help you to cut-down belly fat. The facial expressions enacted while dancing, tones facial muscles and adds to our beauty.
With so many benefits to body, dancing can be taken as a daily dose of exercise. No need to think of how you will dance, because it does not matter how good you dance or how bad you perform, since you are doing it for yourself and your body.
Have you ever wondered the beauty secret & fitness mantra of dhak – dhak girl “Madhuri Dixit “, it’s Dancing! She is a trained-kathak dancer and regularly practiced dancing even when she cut-off from Bollywood. Dancing is tremendously beneficial in keeping us young.
So, never feel that you are too old for dancing, you will grow old if you stop dancing!
The picture doesn’t end here. Above discussed are some direct benefits of dancing. But what is concealed is the fact that dancing is coupled with “music”. It is found that music has soothing effect on human mind that is the reason that now a days some doctors play soft music even in operation theatre. You must have seen joggers carrying headphones, it is said that it helps them run faster. While dancing we automatically get connected with music and feel contented.
People usually listen to EDM or high beats music while doing extreme workout or power workout. The reason behind playing that high beats and bass music is the effect it creates in your body. It makes you feel more energetic and connected with music.
Try Yoga with a soothing music that just play an instrument and no vocal. You will feel the desire to do yoga and meditation. This is because of the reason, the soothing slow music relaxes your brain muscles and gives you the feeling of being in a hypothetical place where you want to be.
So next time whenever you do not feel like going to gym or doing yoga early morning, then try playing some music with it, and I am sure you will fall in love with that.
So, whether it be this wedding season or any celebration be ready to shake your booty! And feel the ecstasy of dancing.
Love to read books and travelling.
